Haywood County Memory Walk at Lake Junaluska a Big Success!

10/3/1010

The skies were a bit gloomy and the temperature uncharacteristically cool for early October, but it was still a bright and beautiful day for the walkers at Lake Junaluska, who raised almost $30,000 dollars for the Alzheimer's Association. These funds support the battle with the debilitating disease, as the search continues for prevention methods, treatments and a cure for the disease.

The top five team were Janes JitterbugsCanton First Baptist ChurchTeam Van Breemanl, Grace Episcopal Church in the Mountains and the dellwood/carolina faith riders, all of whom raised $1000 or more for the cause. My team, Haywood Gal Pals, was one of more than 30 teams who participated. Thanks to the organizers of this wonderful event, as well as all of those who joined in, and I hope to see many more next year! ~ Tavia Thomas
