I was showing a home in the Waynesville, NC neighborhood where my beloved friend Lulie used to live (before she moved herself and Cowcat to Ecuador) and I snapped a couple of pics for her, so she could see the changes that the new owners have made. It looks nice, although in the spring and summer, it is doubtful that it will look anything like Lu's house. She was the gardening queen of Walker-in-the-Hills and loved the lush, informal
English gardern look, bursting with oodles of blooming perennials, herbs and wildflowers in the front and along the walkway...so welcoming, refreshing and fragrant!
Lu's sweet cottage was a mountain haven with a deck overlooking a boisterous creek--just the kind of mountain getaway that so many folks come here to find. I spent many happy hours at Lu's, as well as many tearful ones, since she was my soothing shoulder to cry on during some very tough times. But, time never fails to march on. I still miss you terribly and love you bunches, Lu!!!
